Cowboys Stadium

This miraculous feat of engineering and construction is Cowboys Stadium, more commonly known as JerryWorld in honor of the Dallas Cowboys GM and owner Jerry Jones. For nearly 30 years, Texas Stadium in Irving was the historic stadium that held the 5 championship teams of the Dallas Cowboys. All of the Cowboys greats, including Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, Tony Dorsett, and the rest of the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor, played and, for the most part, dominated the field of Texas Stadium.

Completed in 2009, the 85,000 seat, $1.15 billion behemoth of a football stadium took the place of the historic Texas Stadium. Outside, the stadium has what seems like miles of glass and a retractable roof that can be spotted from nearly all over the Metroplex. Based on the exterior of the stadium, it is surprising that such a brutal and wild sport can be hosted on the field inside.

The inside of Cowboys Stadium is just as nice as the outside. There are luxurious seats lining all sides of the football field. There are so many pieces of art scattered over the interior that it could probably classify as an art museum. The concourses and concessions almost make it seem like you are at a club or nice restaurant, and there is even a Victoria's Secret store located INSIDE of the stadium.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the stadium hovers high above the field. Stretching from one 20-yard line to the other spans a humongous LED video board that puts any other screen to watch football games on to shame. Many people even prefer watching the video board instead of the field because of the clarity and magnification that is unmatched.

Cowboys Stadium was an extremely expensive project to take on, but the product shows that it was money well spent. Just to show, tours are available throughout the week that people will pay just to walk around and admire the stadium. Hundreds of thousands of people have already made the trip to take in the site of Cowboys Stadium, and I'm sure millions more will come in the future. Hopefully the stadium will attract a couple more NFL championships for the Cowboys as well.

About Me

My name is Austin Fink, and I am a senior finance major from Coppell, TX. I am graduating in May of this year. I am involved in my fraternity, Pi Kappa Phi, and have served in many leadership positions through the organization.  I love playing and watching sports and cooking in my spare time. Last semester I began volunteering at the Scott & White Clinic in College Station.

In this class, I hope to get a basic understanding of real estate terms and business. My dad is involved in real estate law, so it will be nice to be able to talk with him about some of his work and have a better understanding of what exactly he deals with.

I hope to graduate in May with a GPA of above a 3.5. After graduation, I am going to work as a Process Consultant for Protiviti Consulting in Dallas. Ideally, I would like to work for a couple of years for Protiviti and then return to school for either an MBA or a Master's in Healthcare Administration (MHA). Eventually, I would like to become involved in hospital administration, possibly a CFO of a hospital.

I wouldn't considered myself a very unique person, but there are a couple of things in my past that most people probably couldn't say they have done. I have broken my sternum playing basketball and my nose several times. I have traveled to 12 foreign countries, and I hope to travel to many more. I have also had the pleasure of sitting courtside or first row at just about every Dallas sports team's games thanks to a family friend.

My bucket list includes things like more international travel and more historic sporting events, including the Super Bowl, a World Series game, and an English Premier League soccer game.

My favorite sites are very limited. I typically bounce between Facebook, ESPN, and Yahoo! (Not Twitter).

Here is a picture of me in front of one of the Christmas trees at Santa's Wonderland this year.
